Blogging Essentials: A Series

Note: This post has become the base of The Collection, a page full of every blog related post I’ve made! That means this post will no longer be updated, so head over here for some blogging goodies!

After launching my new design yesterday, I’m super pumped about getting this blog going again! One of the things I realized while redesigning for the past few weeks and looking through my old blog was that I really enjoy blogging aboug blogging.  I have a passion for coding, designing, and teaching, and that all came together into one big plan: make a blogging series about blogging! So today, I’m introducing a big addition to my blog that I hope will bring in new readers eager to learn, and give my current readers something else to come back for!

While I am calling this a series, it by no means has an end. I plan on this being an ongoing thing that I constantly add to, because there seems to be an infinite amount of useful tips out there! To get things going though, here’s a list of past posts I’ve made that have gotten a great response so far:

I want this series to grow into a master list of blogging tips for any blogger to find useful. That said, I would love for y’all to let me know about anything you would like to learn about! Have you seen something on another blog that you want to try? Are you having trouble growing your blog? Let me know in the comments, or <a href=”https://twitter.com/JessSlaughter_>tweet at me with your response! My goal is to make this list as convenient for my readers as possible, so I’m putting y’all at the heart of it!

Instagram Faves + Peony Project Takeover

If someone were to ask me what my favorite social media platform was, I would without a doubt say Instagram. It’s the perfect combination of community and photography, which are two things I absolutely love! I remember back when Instagram first came out, I wasn’t much of a fan, and I waited a full year before I made my own account. I completely underestimated it! Since then, I’ve formed a collection of apps and other add-ons that I use along with Instagram, and I wanted to share some of my favorites with you!

VSCO Cam
This app is my go-to app for filters and simple edits! It’s easy to use, and it stores a gallery of all the photos you’ve edited to look back at later. I’m in love with the M3 filter, which is the only one I ever use!

InstaSize
Ever wonder how some Instagrammers are able to fit an entire picture in their post without cropping part of it out? This is the magic app! Just upload your picture, and the app fits it perfectly into that square frame. I don’t use this as often as I used to, but it’s really helpful when you want to make sure no one gets cropped out of a shot!

Iconosquare
This website is like a central hub for all your Instagram stats. You can see who’s unfollowed you, what your most popular posts are, when you had the most follower growth, and tons of other stuff! There’s even an “optimization” section that gives you stats about when you receive the most engagement, so you can make sure you’re posting at the best times. All you have to do is sign up with your Instagram account, and it does all the work for you!
On another Instagram related note, I’m taking over The Peony Project’s IG account today! I’m so excited to share my day with such an amazing community! If you haven’t heard of The Peony Project before, you can find the link in the “network” section of my sidebar! It’s an amazing group of women focused on faith, inspiring others, and of course, blogging!
I hope y’all are having a fantastic weekend! I’m currently in the process of moving into my dorm, so you can catch those adventures on my Instagram, and in this weekend’s Snapshot Sunday! Like how I made a full circle there? :)
